8. Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) - Savings and Mortgages

Standard Life Bank plc is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme established under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 which protects customers if a bank goes out of business. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if Standard Life Bank plc cannot meet its obligations depending on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.

Compensation payments under the Scheme amount to 100% of a depositor's first £50,000 deposited (for claims against firms declared in default from 7 October 2008). Most depositors, including individuals and small firms are covered.

Mortgage advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £30,000 and 90% of the next £20,000 so the maximum compensation is £48,000.

Further details of the Scheme are available on request from Standard Life Bank plc or on the FSCS site at http://www.fscs.org.uk/.
